BC Developer of the Worlds Largest Wind Farm Backs Provincial Governments Energy Plan
VICTORIA, BC, February 27, 2007 Katabatic Power Corp., a privately held wind energy developer, applauded the unveiling of British Columbias energy plan today.
By committing to aggressive greenhouse gas reductions, the provincial government has reinforced BCs position as a leader in wind energy generation, said Anthony Duggleby, Chief Executive Officer.
With two projects in development, Katabatic is well-positioned to meet BCs energy targets of obtaining 90 percent of its electricity from renewable sources, ensuring zero net greenhouse gas emissions for all new electricity production, and making BC energy self-sufficient by 2016.
Katabatic also supports the government initiative to incorporate First Nations into BCs energy development.
Were in talks with the Gitxaala Nation to develop the words largest wind farm on Banks Island, south of Prince Rupert, said Duggleby. By forging a relationship with the Gitxaala to develop clean power, were ahead of the curve.
BC Hydro research indicates 94 percent of British Columbians support wind energy as their first choice for new power generation.
